Our Story
OUR PROPOSAL:
Kalen surprised Ashley on a normal Thursday night with plans to go out for a nice dinner. As usual, Kalen tried his best to keep the destination a secret and as usual, she guessed right the first try! THE SPACE NEEDLE!
They took the LONG elevator ride to the top and stepped off into the restaraunt lobby, where Kalen (nervously) and Ashley waited to be seated.
Several minutes later, they were taken to their table where Ashley was greeted to a beautiful view of the city and a nice bouquet of red roses. Ashley was starting to get suspicious...
After looking over the menu for a few minutes, Kalen excused himself from the table to begin the proposal process. He brought the engagement ring to the front desk and the wonderful staff took it from there. He returned to the table to order dinner and she was none the wiser...
After dinner, which took MUCH longer than Kalen had planned because Ashley is notorious for being a slow eater, it was time to wait for dessert! Kalen planned to have the engagement ring placed in the Space Needle's signature dessert called The Lunar Orbitor. This is a combination of ice cream and dry ice (shown in the picture above).
At this point, Kalen was QUITE nervous. He had to make sure everything happened at the right moment. The dessert had to be prepared, the photographer had to be ready and waiting, Ashley's sister Autumn needed to be ready with the video camera... And to top it all off.... SHE STILL HAD TO SAY YES!
Then the moment came. The waitress with the dessert in hand, came up from behind ashley with a bowl overflowing with dry ice and placed it down in front her. Not quite sure what was happening, Ashley nervously waved away the dry ice to see what was happening and there it was...
A RING! Ashley's face lit up with a huge smile and Kalen walked around to her side of the table and dropped down to one knee.
What Kalen had planned days in advanced to say to Ashley and dreamed of saying his whole life, went right out the window when he looked into those tearful eyes. He muttered through what he could remember and before he could even finish "Will you marr-", Ashley was nodding her head and saying, "YES!"
After hugs and kisses were exchanged and the applause from the other guests subsided, Kalen and Ashley (still in shock) enjoyed the REAL dessert with Autumn and then drove back to Ashley's house... Calling and sharing the great news with family and friends along the way!
